• About Chet Lauer

     

    Chet Lauer is an esteemed baseball coach in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Lauer teaches baseball to motivate younger players between eight and college. The Ohio native attended John Carroll University, Cuyahoga Community College, and Saint Ignatius High School, graduating from each institution. Currently, he instructs baseball at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

     

    Outside of his baseball coach job, Lauer enjoys various hobbies, interests, and pastimes. These pastimes, interests, and hobbies include golf, yoga, and video editing. The avid sports fan also closely follows professional baseball, football, and soccer.

     

    Current Roles & Duties

    Lauer is a baseball coach at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida. The academy's baseball program is the country's premier baseball coaching provider. It allows committed student-athletes to excel in baseball under the direction of Lauer and his peers.

     

    Coaching at IMG Academy focuses on the total development of student-athletes. This includes the development of athleticism, an emphasis on strength and conditioning, and position-specific training. In the classrooms of IMG Academy, challenging academic coursework is combined with on-field exercises.

     

    Lauer, a native of Ohio, instructs students aged eight to college. Aspiring baseball players who have received coaching at IMG Academy are in the best position to pursue opportunities at the national, junior national, varsity, junior varsity, and postgraduate levels, among others.

     

    At IMG Academy, Coach Chet Lauer is responsible for student testing, evaluation, and ensuring individual foundational growth. This also fosters competitive team growth among students, intensive personal development, individual skill development, and athleticism in baseball and sports.

     

    Career Record

    Lauer was an assistant baseball coach at John Carroll University in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, before joining IMG Academy. Lauer received a degree from John Carroll University. Following a career as an international professional baseball player, he joined the institution's faculty to oversee various sports operations as an assistant varsity baseball coach.

     

    As an assistant coach for the varsity baseball team, he oversaw the off-season training of dozens of players, published student newsletters, and coordinated game day logistics. During his tenure, he expanded his outreach and relationship-building efforts. He also designed a comprehensive baseball improvement program for students.

     

    From 2015 to 2017, Lauer travelled the globe as a professional baseball player abroad. As a professional baseball player, he travelled as far as Canberra, Australia, for work. He also spent time in Europe, specifically Clermont-Ferrand, France, and Vienna, Austria.

     

    European Baseball & Softball Magazine named Lauer their International All-Star of the time while he was playing in Austria and France.

    Saint Ignatius High School

     

    Lauer attended Saint Ignatius High School in his home county of Cuyahoga, Ohio. The institution is founded on Ignatian spirituality and promotes personal development, intellectual prowess, and a dedication to social justice. The college preparatory school, founded in 1886, offers a rigorous curriculum emphasizing communication skills.

     

    The expansive Saint Ignatius High School campus is located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Ohio City, close to downtown Cleveland. It encompasses 19 buildings on over 20 acres and features three athletic fields. The U.S. Department of Education accredits Saint Ignatius High School as part of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

     

    Cuyahoga Community College

     

    After completing high school at Saint Ignatius, Chet Lauer attended Cuyahoga Community College. Cuyahoga Community College, founded in 1963, is the oldest and largest public community college in Ohio. At Cuyahoga Community College, Lauer established himself as a baseball superstar.

     

    Lauer also studied at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey, and Cuyahoga Community College. Lauer's coursework at Cuyahoga Community College and Saint Peter's University in Jersey City centred on business, accounting, and communications.

     

    John Carroll University

     

    After completing his studies at Saint Peter's University and Cuyahoga Community College, Lauer enrolled at John Carroll University, where he quickly earned a spot on the athletic, academic honour roll.

     

    John Carroll University, located in the baseball coach's hometown of University Heights, is where he earned his bachelor's degree in communications. John Carroll University equips its students with the knowledge, character, and values necessary to serve the greater good throughout their lives.

     

    Lauer, a renowned student, was also the John Carroll University Blue Streaks baseball team captain. As team captain, he managed a talented pitching staff and provided crucial depth in the middle of the order.

    Personal Life

     

    Chet Lauer has been a lifelong supporter and fan of Cleveland sports. This includes the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Guardians.

     

    Lauer is one of eight relatives who have graduated from the prestigious Ohio-based university. He is the younger sibling of his sister, Mary Lauer, and the son of Thomas and Mary Lauer. In the late 1970s, his father, Thomas Lauer, played baseball at John Carroll University at a high level, similar to Chet.

     

    The highly regarded baseball coach proudly supports several crucial charities, non-profit organizations, and other worthy causes. He has numerous hobbies, interests, and pastimes outside his professional and charitable endeavours. Among these pastimes, hobbies, and interests are golf, yoga, and video editing. He is also an avid participant in triathlons.

     

    Born and raised in University Heights, Ohio, he currently resides in the city without travelling for work. University Heights borders the neighbouring communities of Beachwood, Cleveland Heights, South Euclid, and Shaker Heights. University Heights, located in Cuyahoga County, is called the City of Beautiful Homes.
